Who would have known that boils are a real thing in the bible. The bible speaks on them quite often. Why would the bible speak on such a… might i say, gross subject? Boils actually are extremely common, and can be an easily understood reference in those times and now. Also they are a divine judgment from God the Father for a lesson to be learned and ways to be changed.
The word boil means to bubble, bubble up, to seethe. So yes physically boils are pus filled, inflamed, liquid infection, that have to be accepted and gone through the process of it in entirety- most of the time in order to be gone. But still, there must be a spiritual side God is implying at, as well.
If boils are a judgment call to look at the way we are living and what instances and circumstances we are letting bubble up in our lives then we can see why God would use them. So in other words we have things in our life that are overwhelming and festering that must be handled; and due to the nature of the pain of a boil- time for a change. When we get a boil in our life do we heed the warning or not? Our emotions such as pain, regret, depression, anger and the likes often end up boiling over; as we do not deal with our feelings well a lot of the time; so it's like a manifestation of an inflamed infection.
In 2 Kings 20 and Isaiah 38, king Hezekiah became deathly ill with a painful, festering boil. The prophet Isaiah was sent to tell Hezekiah to prepare for death, as he would not recover. God then healed him after the king prayed. So we see that God is able to take our problems and do away with them. That we do not have to let our problems build up to eruption.
Say someone is overworked, they just keep working, tiredness starts forming within them, they don't sleep many hours a night, it starts to affect how they eat, they start choosing fast food for all meals, they lose time with their loved ones, their body starts getting stiff, they start to get mood swings, their mind is focused consistently on their work. They do this for years. One day they have a heart attack. The doctor tells them they need a lifestyle change. The boil has erupted and now they have a second chance to make a change. Lets hope they don't get that same boil.
Boils should not happen but if they do we need to take them as a warning to change before they erupt. I have had one boil in my life and my boil never erupted (this is a real boil) as I took heed to medicaid it down. I have had other situations that boiled over and did erupt, however. And sometimes i have had to go through something many times before I get it and if a boil starts forming now to medicaid it until I'm healed and never get a “boil” anymore. Of course I'm not yet in Eden so if a boil happens I am prepared to stop it on contact with prayer for understanding and the ability to stop it and move on with Jesus.
Boils can even be as simple as drinking too much coffee (this is my current boil that has formed). I started drinking an extra large cup of coffee every day for the last two weeks. Yesterday I realized the boil. And decided I should only be drinking a small cup, since I enjoy coffee everyday. I can now say I feel better and am happier knowing better, addressing the issue, learning from it, and listening to my body and holy spirit.
***It seems that sometimes we need a boil to see an issue for a change to be made because we are stubborn Exodus 33:5 : "For the LORD had said unto Moses, Say unto the children of Israel, Ye are a stiff-necked people".
I am a huge softy on my doggy. I trained him well but he still doesn't like to listen when he so chooses. It has gotten in the way of some of my relationships. So it did erupt and now I have reconsidered how I am raising my dog and what I am letting him get away with versus what I should be chastising him on.
**** Boils can be managed when noticed and dealt with, before they start to erupt, because sometimes when they erupt there is no fixing the problem. As we can see if God did not show King Hezekiah mercy, his would have resulted in death. If our boils do erupt we should consider it time to make a change and learn a lesson versus keep repeating the cycle or letting it get to beyond reproach. We need to take heed if we care and fix the problem.

*** We do not want to be stiff-neck even after the boil burst/judgment from God.
Proverbs 29:1: "Whoever remains stiff-necked after many rebukes will suddenly be destroyed—without remedy".
Romans 2:5: "But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God's wrath".
Psalm 81:11-12: "But my people would not listen to me; Israel would not submit to me. So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts to follow their own devices"
