Patience equals understanding

****** November 14, 2025*** this post was published on my now not in use substack

Welcome to my second post, I hope you enjoyed the first. It was not the whole story of Job I must say, rather just a point I wanted to get across. Job is a very deep character and I will have to write about why he is so loved and gives hope to so many, including myself, later on. Patience, trust, and understanding is my next topic and the correlations of the three. When I speak on understanding here, it is purely with God’s deliverance, and not your own account of something, without God. Anyway, here is the piece for you today. Enjoy.

Many, many bible verses shed light on what patience means and the importance of it. You may read them now and again after you finish this piece if you so like.

~Romans 12:12, “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer”

~”Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love”.

~”Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly “Proverbs 19:11 “A man’s wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense”

I might have given you one too many verses here or not enough but here is one more that is needed.

~Galatians 5:22-23: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control; against such things there is no law”

The peace in this one is considered a part of the grouping of nine which belongs to the fruit of the spirit. Everyone has a spirit, God breathes life into you and you have a spirit. You have flesh as well. So what is so important about the fruit of the spirit is it has to be catered to or advanced in this world we are in. If you show love for someone or goodness, it means you are living in a state of how God says we are supposed to be and clearly how we are supposed to be, if I do say so myself. It’s also the reason why it says there is no law. Nothing needs to be “right or wrong” within it. Nothing needed to be “dealt with” or “handled”, nor, “taught” in that state of being, because it is perfectly well. No wrong can be done or illness within it.

Of course everyone on this planet has love down pat, I’m not sure it’s geared toward just themselves, money, or a good time but for this piece im going to happily assume its for the love of others and God first.

What is patience? Is it just being able to wait on the coffee, in a line, that is wrapped around the block. It is barely able to wait for that chick fa la meal you’ve been dying for all morning, now it’s lunch time and you have to sit patiently and pray to God the line moves fast enough so you can get back to work without sneaking in 20 minutes late. Well actually yes. I mean, the way the bible puts it would be way more strenuous worthy work, I guess. But on a level of sorts, yes.

Patience is being slow to anger and long suffering through any given circumstance, which are characteristics traits of God. When you are not patient you miss the opportunity to have understanding of a challenge or obstacle you are dealing with. Not waiting for something to thin out, like the chick fa la line, would have left you without that juicy chicken sandwich, wouldn’t it? You would not have known it was possible to wait for it and get it. Because you didn’t wait. And you would have to do it again until you know it’s possible or miss out.

Cain, killed his brother because he was jealous of him. He could have gotten over/through those negative feelings by having the patience to deal with them; so as to coming to the understanding of being in a sinful world that is meant to keep us trapped and not to overcome. And also, if I might add, he made a big a deal to something as his brother having brought a more favorable gift to God while God was likely just trying to point to Cain, that he may be needing to focus on his crop more, or something like that.

Any who, when you can listen to and comprehend what someone is saying or figure out that math problem without giving up, even though you went through 5 erasers and had to listen to someone for 5 hours. You now see the importance of understanding through patience. And without them you are at a stopping point to goodness. Or you can say, you are at a continuation of limitations.

You might not understand now as you’re going through the hard ship you’re given, but if you do not give up and trust God you will.

*Jesus’s suffering was so long and hard, and he dealt with everything without ringing the bell. I can only imagine the level of understanding, peace, and rewards he gets to have because of it.
